1️ WHAT IS START-UP INDIA REGISTRATION

Start-up India is an initiative by DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade) to recognize eligible start-ups and provide tax benefits, funding access, ease of compliance, and government support.

 

2️ ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS (VERY IMPORTANT)

A business shall be eligible as a Start-up if it satisfies ALL below:

  1. Entity Type

    • Private Limited Company

    • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)

    • Registered Partnership Firm

  2. Age of Entity

    • Not more than 10 years from date of incorporation

  3. Turnover

    • Annual turnover ≤ ₹100 Crore in any financial year

  4. Innovation / Improvement

    • Working towards:

      • Innovation, or

      • Development / improvement of products or services, or

      • Scalable business model with high employment / wealth creation potential

  5. Not formed by splitting or reconstruction of existing business

 

3️ BENEFITS OF START-UP INDIA REGISTRATION

📁 A. BASIC ENTITY DOCUMENTS

  1. Certificate of Incorporation / Registration

  3. LLP Agreement / MOA & AOA / Partnership Deed

  4. Address Proof of Registered Office

📁 B. PROMOTER / DIRECTOR DETAILS

  3. Email ID & Mobile Number

📁 C. START-UP SPECIFIC DOCUMENTS

  1. Brief Write-up on Innovation / Business Model

  2. Declaration of Start-up (Format prescribed by DPIIT)

  3. Authorization Letter (if filed by CA / Consultant)

⚠️ No CA certificate or turnover proof required at registration stage.

 

5️ STEP-BY-STEP REGISTRATION PROCESS

STEP 1: Create Account on Startup India Portal

👉 https://www.startupindia.gov.in

STEP 2: Login & Apply for DPIIT Recognition

Fill details:

  • Entity details

  • Director / Partner details

  • Business activity

  • Innovation description

STEP 3: Upload Documents

  • Incorporation certificate

  • Write-up on innovation

  • Declaration

STEP 4: Submit Application

  • Application is self-certified

  • Recognition Certificate generally issued within 1–3 working days

 

6️ POST-REGISTRATION COMPLIANCES

  1. Annual update of entity status on portal

  2. Maintain books of accounts

  3. File Income Tax Return regularly

  4. Apply separately for:

    • 80-IAC Tax Exemption (Form-1 to Inter-Ministerial Board)

    • Angel Tax Exemption (if required)
